The only way to respond when someone asks you “why do you write strong female characters.”
The last one.
This is amazing: “Meet Sir Morien, the black knight of the round table.”
From smithsonianmag.com, “Not All the Knights of the Round Table Were White,” by Rose Eveleth.
The world has always been astoundingly diverse, y’all. Our history and fiction should reflect it.

It was a conscious effort to have a diverse cast just to represent our world. I don’t think it’s realistic for the whole cast to be white. I also think when you are developing a show and casting it mostly Caucasian and you get down to the bad guy and the network is like, “You have to have some diversity,” then all of the sudden…that’s why the person of color is always killed. And because we have so much diversity in our cast and we’ve had the freedom to cast our villains and victims however we want, so we can kill as many white people as we want.

OH LOOK AT THAT THE 1960S
AND SHE’S IN COMMAND GOLD FUCKERS.
She’s not in Medical blue, a caretaking, feminine role.
Those in Gold were either OFFICERS, NAVIGATORS, PILOTS, TACTICAL OFFICERS, or WEAPONS SPECIALISTS.
Things that he would have known to be masculine roles.
Two Seconds, and that extra said so much.
One of the main unspoken rules in fandom is don’t break the fourth wall. Don’t mail your sexually explicit Harry Potter fan art to the actors. Don’t try to engage Joss Whedon in a conversation about Buffy fanfic. Break this rule, and you’re immediately exposing yourself to the risk of a catastrophic fandom flamewar.
But if someone on the other side of the fourth wall asks for it? Then all bets are off. Kind of like when this weekend, Sleepy Hollow star Orlando Jones asked fans to tweet him links to fanfic. [READ MORE]

seriously tho you have to read this thing rEAD THE THING
Basically, not only did Sleepy Hollow get off to a running start with regards to fan involvement, but there’s already no fourth wall between the audience and the show itself. None whatsoever. Which means that if Sleepy Hollow fandom wants to talk about anything without one of its leading actors immediately finding out, then they’re going to have to think up some secret coded Tumblr tags. Fast.
This is going to be an awesome ride. The show already got picked up for a second season and all of this and there is some good fic out there already. Tempts me to start scribbling if I can find the time.
Okay, so I could not find any sort of map or layout of Night Vale and (being a huge nerd who used to make D&D Maps for her brother) I took it upon myself to make a large, comprehensive, and possibly entirely incorrect series of maps which I will have to continually alter as new podcasts come out. This is just how I picture it. I re-listened through the whole thing and took down a bunch of notes haha. I think it’s all as correct as it can be (at least as far as “First Date”). If anyone notices something incorrect please let me know.
(btw you can open that first map up in a new tab to see it better)
